From Byker to Brooklyn. Fred Fernandez began his journey in the music business as a busboy then bartender in Newcastle nightclub Foundation, where he later became a promoter for a highly successful live music night. After early successes championing burgeoning indie rock n roll acts at his events, he was approached by EMI, and later Warner Music Group, to be an A&R scout, further strengthening his ties to emerging talent and the wider music business.
The wider music business and the lure of London made for an easy transition and there Fred continued his previous promotion and talent-buying work at famous London venues like Astoria 2, The Old Blue Last, 333, 93 Feet East and Queen of Hoxton. During this time Fred also DJ’d prolifically, at events for Vice, Cannes Lions Festival, Moshi Moshi (Paris), Myspace, Lana Del Rey, and many more. After a chance encounter with a band he had previously scouted, Fred realized that to help artists reach their full potential he wanted to focus on working as an artist manager. This lead him to join Trust Management, based out of the world famous Rak Studios in London as part of a team working with Dexys Midnight Runners, Johnny Marr, We Are Scientists, Ash, Splashh and more.
As part of Trust Management Fred signed and secured deals with labels and brands like Universal Music Group, Cooking Vinyl, Burberry and Gucci. Fast forward to 2017 and Fred had made the long-planned move to the land of his birth, living in New York City and joining artist management company Punkdafunk. There he worked as part of the Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), SOFI TUKKER and Cut Copy teams, whilst building his own roster which included Nettwerk Music recording artist Aunty Social. During his 5+ years with Punkdafunk Fred worked on two global synch/ad campaigns for Apple iPhone with SOFI TUKKER, a Grammy-nominated debut album for SOFI TUKKER and 1 x platinum and 7 x gold certified single releases.
In 2022 Fred joined forces with Matt Herzfeld formerly of Island Records and Primary Wave to create bi-coastal artist management company Seasons Music Group, with a focus on developing and breaking unique talent.
